I would like to thank you for placing your product on A Current Affair. I had a micro current treatment for a bulging disc in my lower back some 3 years ago. The disc is bulging inside my spine, which I was referred to a Professor for surgery. Although I could not take even one step without extreme pain, I was not prepared to have surgery. My aunt had told me about Micro Current Therapy and did not believe this treatment could help me. The very next morning I was able to get out of bed with about half as much pain. My partner and I are thrilled that I am continuing to have great success using my Alpha-Stim SCS (or "brainwave" machine, as I call it). Since I was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1994 I have been on high doses of medication to combat depression. Some of the many negative side effects of the medication have included short-term memory loss, reduced concentration, poor decision making, weight gain, constant respiratory-tract problems, constipation, joint pain, distressing nightmares and talking in my sleep, increased need for sleep (as much as 16 hours a day at worst), and, while I live overseas, spending some US$210 a month on medication !
In the ten months I have been using the Alpha-Stim SCS, I have... been able to reduce my medications greatly.. Not only has my emotional health not suffered for this, but I have had very positive improvements in my mood and energy levels. This I put down to both the therapeutic effects of CES and to reduced negative side-effects from medication.
My reflexes, concentration, memory and clarity of thought have improved significantly. Additionally, we have both been just amazed at how well I am hitting the ball and moving around on the tennis court, in spite of being overweight and of having had nearly ten years away from the game. I tried the SCS after 10 years of trying different antidepressants and all the very unpleasant side effects that go with them. I was very skeptical at first because I have tried all the 'alternative' approaches to no effect, even though I know others who have found help that way. It is subtle, very subtle - in the sense that I often don't get a 'kick' from it so much as it is the only thing I have when my moods plunge downwards - and I don't think it is placebo(although I cannot prove it). Before using it (approx a month ago) I had to 'bully' myself out of bed - it was horrible - and many other very unpleasant effects.
LATER: It seems the Alpha-Stim is having a positive effect on my anxiety depression, so that I'm able to operate more effectively and when I feel down or really exhausted, I put it on (the earclips) - but not late at night! I am very pleased but keeping a low profile.
LATER: It is very subtle - I have never come across anything like this before and I don't think it is my imagination. My anxiety/depression is still there but the Alpha-Stim appears to give relief - and the reduction in symptoms indicates it is more than placebo effect. It would be nice to have Aussie testimonials available on the web given the prevalence of depression in Australia and the fact that microcurrent electrotherapy stimulation is so often either overlooked or simply unknown. It is the world's best kept secret, but should not be!
